We meet a lot of amazing people as we travel as well. Last week we met a couple who have been travelling the world for the past two years, and are on their “African extension” now. Heard a guy preach who walked around South Africa washing people’s feet a few weeks ago.
But One of the COOLEST! dudes we’ve met here in South Africa is our friend named Mozzie. He is hitch-hiking and surfing up the West Coast of Africa! (And you can tell by the picture, he’s no amateur!). He has had some great adventures so far, and his trip has only just begun! Too bad he is travelling the opposite direction from us, would have been lekker (new favorite South African word- means “cool”) to learn to surf from a pro like him! The other day he narrowly avoided being eaten by a shark (no joke here, someone died last week from shark attack). In his words, his journey is about “Leaving behind the comforts of knowing, in search for hidden treasure”
For us, giving up the “comforts of knowing” is one of the hardest parts of travel like this, so especially for going the journey solo, we give Mozzie big props and can’t wait to read about the treasure he finds along the way. Those who are willing to sacrifice in search of it often will find even more than they’ve ever expected.
We can’t wait to read about his adventures and all he learns along the way. And hopefully this isn’t the last you’ll hear of him, we’d love to meet up again as he and our team get north :-)
