This picture is awesome because that view is beautiful, and we got to camp there.
This picture is sad because that big bridge in the back is known as the “death” bridge. 86 people have jumped off it to their death. 1 woman tried last Saturday, but the police talked her down.
When we arrived here, a traffic cop told us, “watch out for people jumping”
We said: “bungee?” (it looks like many of the bridges they use here for bungee jumping)
“no, no bungee. just jumping”.
Later, we met another guy who was telling us more about the bridge, he said some believed that there are Satanic powers at work here. I asked why people jumped from this bridge. “It’s the highest one”; he responded.
I’m not quite sure what I would have done if someone jumped while we were there.
May we learn to love each other in increasing measure, so that people may have hope and reason to live. May bridges not need to be named for death.
